• Critique of pure reason (1781 and 1787): Analytic of concepts

• need for a new reading key:
  - contradictions with the central hypothesis
  - contradictions with the overall goal
  - conceptual revolution but 'representational language'

• new readings:
  - 'Vorstellung' construction
  - 'Anschauung' spatio-temporal framing and patterns
  - 'a priori' precedes as determination of the object
  - 'Apperzeption' momentary center of object synthesis
  - 'Metaphysik' new science of object synthesis

• new concept of 'object':
  - 'connection ... can never come to us through the senses'
  - 'we cannot think of anything as connected in the object which we have not ourselves previously connected'
  - 'we know the object when we have produced synthetic unity in the spatio-temporal manifold'
